Verifying your ID and driver’s license
The one-time check that confirms who you are and that you can legally drive.
Updated October 10, 2026
Every renter completes a one-time verification before their first booking. It protects hosts, who are handing their car to a stranger, and it protects you, because it makes sure nobody else can book in your name.
What you will be asked to do
- Scan or photograph the front and back of your driver’s license (or another accepted government photo ID, where the flow asks for it).
- Take a selfie. Our verification provider runs a liveness check and compares your face with the photo on the ID.
- Confirm the details we read from your license, such as your name and date of birth.
Most people are approved within minutes. If the automatic check cannot decide, it may be reviewed manually and take longer.
Tips for a first-time pass
- Use good, even light and lay the license on a plain, dark surface.
- Make sure all four corners are visible and nothing is covered by a finger or glare.
- Remove glasses and hats for the selfie, and look straight at the camera.
- Your license must not be expired and must match the name on your account.
How your information is used
The face comparison is used only to verify your identity and license, to prevent fraud, and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell biometric data. Our biometric data privacy policy explains who can see it and how long it is kept.
Seifly may ask you to verify again from time to time, for example when a license expires or if we see something unusual on an account.
