How Seifly Rentals works

A start-to-finish walkthrough of renting a car from a local host on Seifly.

Updated October 10, 2026

Seifly Rentals is a marketplace where people share their own cars with approved drivers. You are not renting from a rental counter: every car belongs to an independent host, who sets the price, the pickup place, and the house rules for that listing. Seifly provides the platform, the identity checks, the payment handling, the inspection tools, and support when something goes wrong.

The trip, step by step

  1. Create and verify your account. Sign up with your name, email, and mobile number, then verify your identity and driver’s license. You only do this once, before your first booking.
  2. Search. Enter where you want to pick the car up and your trip dates. Filter by price, vehicle type, and delivery.
  3. Choose a car and send a request. Review the photos, features, rules, and host, then check out. The price, our service fee, and any extras are itemized before you send the request.
  4. Wait for the host to accept, or book instantly. On most listings you send a request, your card is authorized, and it is only charged once the host accepts. If the host declines or never answers, the authorization is released. Listings with Instant Book skip this step: you complete the booking and your card is charged straight away.
  5. Check in. At pickup you and the host record the car’s condition in the Seifly trip check-in: photos, fuel or charge level, and odometer.
  6. Drive. Follow the listing rules, keep your host’s car safe, and message the host from the trip page if anything comes up.
  7. Return and check out. Return the car on time to the agreed place, and record the check-out inspection. Both reports are saved to the trip.
  8. Review. After the trip you can rate your host and the car.

Where to find your trips

Everything about a booking lives on your trip page under My trips: the host’s messages, pickup instructions, additional drivers, inspection reports, receipts, and the help tools for problems and claims.
