Reporting damage to your car

You have 48 hours after the return. Here is what to do and what to include.

Updated October 10, 2026

Steps

  1. Check the car carefully at return and compare it with the check-in photos.
  2. Take clear, dated photos of the damage, including close-ups and a wider view.
  3. Do the check-out inspection if you have not already.
  4. File a claim from the trip page. See Filing a claim.
  5. Message the guest calmly with facts. Keep the conversation in Seifly.

What happens next

Seifly or our claims partners investigate and decide whether the damage happened during the trip and is eligible for reimbursement under your plan. They look at the inspection reports, photos, messages, and any vehicle data. Reasonably cooperate and respond quickly.

Do not repair the damage until you have documented it and the claim reviewer has had a chance to see it, unless the car is unsafe to leave as it is.
