Filing and tracking a claim

The claim types, what to attach, and what the statuses mean.

Updated October 10, 2026

Claims are for losses that go beyond a simple charge, most often damage. You file them from the trip page, and you follow them on the Claims page.

What you can claim for

  • Damage to the car.
  • Excessive cleaning, smoking, or an undeclared pet.
  • Late return, extra miles, or low fuel or charge.
  • Items missing from the car.
  • Guest did not show up.
  • Loss of use while the car is repaired.
  • Theft.
  • Something else.

What to include

  • A clear description of what happened and when you noticed it.
  • Photos, with close-ups, taken as soon as you saw the damage.
  • Repair estimates or receipts, if you have them.
  • The amount you are claiming, if it is a cost you can quantify.

Statuses

  • Open. Received and waiting for review.
  • Investigating. The team is reviewing the evidence and may ask both sides for more.
  • Resolved. A decision has been made.
  • Dismissed or Closed. No further action.

You can exchange messages with the Seifly team on a claim. Your deductible depends on your earnings plan. See Choosing an earnings plan.
