Paying by card or in cash
Which payment options you see at checkout and how each one works.
Updated October 10, 2026
At checkout you choose how to pay for your trip. The options depend on the market where the car is located, so you only see the ones that are available for that car.
Paying by bank card
Card is the default. Your card is authorized when you send the request and is only charged once the host accepts (or straight away on Instant Book listings). Card payments are handled securely by our payment processor; Seifly never sees your full card number.
Paying in cash
In markets where cash is enabled you can choose Cash at checkout. No card is charged. You pay your host the trip total in cash when you pick up the car, and the booking page shows the exact amount to hand over.
- Your request still needs the host to accept it, unless the listing is Instant Book.
- Ask the host for a receipt, or take a photo of the handover in your trip messages, so there is a record that you paid.
- Cash trips follow the same cancellation policy as card trips. Because nothing was charged, there is nothing to refund, but a late cancellation can still count against your account.
If you only see one option
Some markets accept cash only and some accept cards only. If the option you expected is missing, it is not available for that car or market. Choose another car, or contact support if you think this is a mistake.
