Requesting a trip
What happens after you press request, how long the host has, and what you are charged.

Request, then confirm
How a booking is confirmed depends on the listing. Most listings work by request: you send a trip request and the booking is confirmed when the host accepts it. This gives hosts a chance to confirm the car is free and that the pickup works, and you are not charged for a trip that never happens. Listings marked Instant Book let you book automatically, with no waiting for the host. The button at checkout tells you which one you are using: Request to Book or Complete Booking.
How to request
- Open a car, choose your dates, and select Continue or Book.
- On the checkout page, review the itemized price: trip price, Seifly service fee, taxes where they apply, any extras, and the protection plan you select.
- Choose a payment method and, if the listing asks for it, add additional drivers later from your trip page.
- Send the request (or, on Instant Book listings, complete the booking). On a request, your card is authorized, not charged. On Instant Book, your card is charged when you complete the booking.
What the host does next
- Instant Book listing. The booking is confirmed immediately, your card is charged, and the host is notified. The cancellation policy applies from that moment.
- The host accepts a request. Your card is charged, you receive a confirmation, and your host will confirm the pickup details with you. You can message the host from the trip page.
- The host declines, or does not respond. The authorization is released and you are not charged. A released hold can take a few business days to disappear from your bank statement, depending on your bank.
