Disagreeing with a charge from your host

What to do if you think a cleaning, fuel, mileage, or other charge is wrong.

Updated October 10, 2026

A host can only file a charge for the types described in Tolls, extra miles, and other trip charges, with a note and evidence. If you disagree with one:

  1. Read the evidence the host attached.
  2. Open your trip and look at the saved inspection reports. Compare the photos at check-in and check-out, the odometer, and the fuel or battery level.
  3. Message the host politely and say what you disagree with.
  4. If you cannot agree, report it through Trip support on the trip, with your own photos and the reports.

The Seifly team looks at the reports, messages, and photos from both sides. Avoid asking your bank to reverse the payment first, because that can restrict your account.
