Protection plans for guests
What an optional protection plan does, what it does not, and how it affects your deductible.

Seifly is not an insurance company and does not insure hosts or guests. What we offer at checkout are protection plans. These plans reduce what you pay out of pocket for physical damage to the car, up to a stated deductible, in return for an added fee.
What to know before you choose
- The exact coverage, limits, exclusions, deductibles, and eligibility are shown at checkout and in the plan documents. Those documents override any general summary, including this article.
- The person who booked the trip is financially responsible for damage to the car or theft during the trip, no matter who was at fault, unless a plan or a policy covers it.
- Plans cover physical damage. They do not cover mechanical or interior damage, personal belongings, or normal wear and tear.
- To benefit from a plan, the primary renter and every approved driver must follow the Terms.
When a plan may be void
A plan can be cancelled or reduced if a trip involves a violation of the Terms, an unapproved driver, undisclosed commercial use, reckless driving, a late or missing incident report, failure to cooperate with an investigation, or a material misrepresentation.
Your own insurance
Hosts cannot offer you liability insurance. Where a trip includes baseline liability coverage, its terms are described at checkout. If you have a personal auto policy, it may apply before or after the coverage provided with the trip, depending on the law and the situation. Ask your insurer whether it covers peer-to-peer or short-term rentals before you rely on it.
