Insurance and Seifly

What Seifly is, what it is not, and how insurance fits into a trip.

Updated October 10, 2026

Seifly is a platform, not an insurer. We do not insure hosts or guests.

  • Baseline liability coverage. Depending on your state and the listing, a trip may include liability coverage meant to meet state minimum requirements. Its terms, limits, and exclusions are described at checkout and in the coverage documents.
  • Optional protection plans. These reduce what you pay out of pocket for physical damage, up to a deductible. See Protection plans for guests.
  • Your own insurance. Your personal auto policy may be primary over trip coverage, depending on the law and the situation. If you use the car professionally, trip coverage may apply only after your other policies.
  • Host insurance. Hosts must carry their own insurance that meets legal minimums and keep their registration and proof of insurance in the car.

Many personal policies and credit card benefits exclude peer-to-peer rentals. Check with your provider before relying on them.
