Your responsibilities as a guest
The commitments you make whenever you drive a host’s car.
Updated October 10, 2026
Hosts trust you with something valuable. When you book, you agree to the renter commitments in the Terms of Service. In plain language:
- You are a legally licensed driver and will show a current, valid license when asked.
- You will treat the car with care and return it on time, in essentially the same condition, with a similar fuel or charge level unless you agreed otherwise.
- Only approved drivers added to the trip through Seifly may drive.
- You will drive safely and legally: obey speed limits, never drive impaired or distracted, wear seat belts, and follow child-seat laws.
- You will not leave the car unlocked or the keys unsecured.
- You will report any damage or incident quickly. See What to do after an accident.
Financial responsibility
The person who booked the trip is financially responsible for damage to, or theft of, the car during the trip, plus any additional costs that result, regardless of who was at fault. A protection plan can limit what you pay out of pocket, but only if you and every approved driver follow the Terms.
Seifly can end a trip
If Seifly has a concern about how the car is being used, we may end the trip at any time and require the car to be returned, including recovering it for the host.
