Flat tire or tire damage
What to do, and how responsibility is usually decided.
Updated October 10, 2026
- Pull over somewhere safe and switch on the hazard lights. Do not drive on a flat tire.
- Message your host. They may be able to tell you where the spare and tools are, or help arrange a repair.
- Take photos of the tire, the wheel, and anything that caused it, such as a nail or a curb.
- Report it through Trip support on your trip page.
- Keep all receipts for any tow or repair you arrange, and talk to your host and support before you pay.
Who is responsible?
- A tire that fails because it is old or worn is a maintenance matter. Hosts must keep their cars safe and roadworthy.
- Damage caused by hitting something, such as a curb or a pothole, is physical damage and is handled like any other claim. What a protection plan covers is set out in the plan documents.
Your check-in photos of the tires help show what condition they were in at the start.
