Providing your tax information

Why Stripe asks for tax details, and how to keep them accurate.

Updated October 10, 2026

When you set up payouts, Stripe collects the tax information it needs to pay you and to prepare tax forms. This is usually your legal name, address, and a tax ID such as an SSN or an EIN for a business.

  • Enter the details exactly as they appear on your tax records.
  • Update them with Stripe if your name, address, or business structure changes.
  • We never ask for tax IDs in messages, so don’t send them to guests or by email.

You are responsible for your own income taxes. Speak to a tax professional about your situation. See Tax forms and 1099-K.
